J. Anthony Penry
Andy Penry is a partner in the Raleigh litigation firm of Penry Riemann PLLC. The firm is exclusively focused on construction, securities, and business trial work.
Andy began his career as the first law clerk to U.S. District Judge James C. Fox in Wilmington. Following his clerkship, Andy worked in several Raleigh law firms. Prior to forming his own firm in 2001, he was a partner and founding member of the Cary law firm Ellis & Winters.
Andy is licensed to practice in North Carolina and Florida. He is an elected member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the American Law Institute, and the Litigation Counsel of America. He has taught trial advocacy as a faculty member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy since 1990, including as a faculty member at NITA’s national trial program at Colorado University. Andy was also the program director of the expert witness litigation program at Case Western University, and has served as a guest instructor at trial advocacy programs at the UNC Law School. He is the founder and initial chair of the Commercial Litigation section of the NC Advocates for Justice.
Andy serves on the Board of Trustees for Wake Technical Community College, and on the Board of Directors for the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. He also served on the Board of Directors of the NC Global Trans Park Authority.
