Attorney Brochure

Borrowing Privileges

Members of the North Carolina Bar are given borrowing privileges with the Law Library. Attorneys may borrow any materials that circulate, but must use all other materials in the Library. In order for attorneys to borrow materials, they must have an Attorney Privilege Card. This card will be issued by the library assistant on duty.

The lending period for library materials is one month, and the materials may be renewed once. Overdue notices will be sent by email, and books can be renewed over the phone by calling 919-865-5869. Overdue fines for materials are 25 cents per day.

Database Access

The Law Library provides complimentary access to Westlaw and Keycite at the public access computers. To access Westlaw, simply click on the icon labeled “Westlaw Access for . . . .” This will give you access to Keycite, primary federal and state law, and journals on Westlaw.

The four public access computers also provide access to the Library catalog and the internet. There are a number of subscription databases available from these computers as well. These databases include HeinOnline, the Index to Legal Periodicals, CCH Business and Finance, as well as the U. S. Supreme Court Briefs and Records, and the United Nations Treaty Collection.

The Campbell Law Library Document Delivery Service is a non-profit fee based delivery service provided to Law School alumni and other members of the North Carolina Bar. The Library charges fees for copying and delivery services. This allows the Library to provide the practicing bar access to our collection. The fees charged for services cover the cost of photocopying, faxing, or mailing the material.

Within limits proscribed by U.S. copyright laws, the library fills photocopy requests for attorneys. Requests must contain accurate and complete citations, name, billing address, and telephone number. The charge for each request is fifteen cents per page plus an additional charge of two dollars per cite. Requests may be placed by phone (919-865-5871), fax (919-865-5994), or e-mail (hurley@law.campbell.edu). Every effort is made to provide service within 24 hours.

Fax services are offered to Attorneys with a same day turn around time. The charge for faxed copies is fifty cents per page plus an additional charge of two dollars per cite. Firms will be billed for photocopies and faxes on the first of each month.

Facilities
